Eye-safety with other emitters
Hi,
I found the documentation that Realsense D400 series is eye-safe as Class 1 Laser product following IEC 60825. Few requests in this support portal also refer to this, e.g. https://support.realsenseai.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/1500000503322-Eye-Safety and https://support.realsenseai.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360045818573-Active-IR-Safety
We'd like to integrate Realsense D435 cameras in a system with other IR emitters. Is there a way to get additional information like max. irradiance and radiance values of them in order to be able to judge if the combined system would still be eye safe, e.g. following IEC 62471?
Thanks!

Hi Johannes Rabe The bottom of page 42 provides information about the infrared projector component's wavelength frequency (around 850 nm near-IR) and which IEC regulations it is compliant with.

If your company requires further technical information then I would recommend considering applying to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with RealSense for access to information that is not publicly disclosed.
It is worth noting though that the IR of RealSense cameras can interfere with other non-RealSense IR devices. The RealSense camera is not interfered with by those non-RealSense devices in return.

Hi MartyX Grover,
thank you for the quick feedback and the hint on IR interference.
I feel like we may need additional information, but may need some alignment first before applying for an NDA.

Hi MartyX Grover,
We have a very similar question, as we are looking for the detailed IEC 60825-1 conformance report for the D415 camera and D410 module, stating test details and used distances for the measurements. This is needed for FDA regulations, as we use these cameras as part of a medical device.
We would be happy to apply for an NDA if needed, could you please advise us on how to proceed?
