Eye Safety

All the documentation for this product says it's a Class 1 Laser Product. But how can it be, when the laser power can (and does) get so high on it's default settings?

    Hi @Nora Lane  Intel's white-paper document about projectors describes how laser power level and its eye safety is related to the range of the projector.

    Thanks for the link! It seems like it's really only of concern in the case of using an external projector (i.e. projector added on to the device) assuming I'm interpreting this correctly?

    That is correct, external projectors can provide greater projection range due to higher power.  This is demonstrated by the image below from a past RealSense case of an external LED projector used in a dark scene.

     

     

    Point 5 of the section on projector range that I linked to describes how increased range can be achieved in an eye-safe way by positioning multiple eye-safe projectors.
