D405 and D435i
Hi,
I would like to use a depth camera to track a 3D object within the distance from 10cm - 50cm.
The tracking accuracy is important for me. I want to know which one suit for me, D405 or D435i?
Moreover, I checked the specification of D405 and it looks it does not include the infrared projector. Does this mean it is better to use it to track a 3D object with rich texture information?
Thank you.

Hi Yixun Liu The D405 is designed for high image quality and high accuracy at close range (7 cm to 50 cm ideal depth range). It can provide better results than the D435i at 10 cm (a distance where the depth image may have missing detail on the D435i model).
Although the D405 is not equipped with a projector, you can compensate by either using a richly textured object or using an external visible projector (instead of an IR-based projector) to cast a texture onto the object's surface. Visible projectors are discussed in the section of Intel's white-paper guide about using projectors with 400 Series cameras at the link below.
