Insect counting
Hi there,
As an addendum to my previous questions: specifically, I am looking to use the Intel RealSense D455 as a means to automatically count insects. Specifically, in the manner specified here: https://support.intelrealsense.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/4413762311955-Use-in-field-biology?page=1#comments
I have some knowledge of programming, but there is a gap between this, and what would be necessary to, say, automatically count the number of insects visible in a given snapshot. I suspect that there is a way to do this, involving, say, TensorFlow or some other library, but I feel that I need to come up to speed as a developer on the capabilities that the D455 and the related software have in this regard, beyond just the basics.
Do you know of any researchers, or user groups, or online classes I could take for a more in-depth knowledge of this area of use?
Thanks!
Andrew
P.S. I decided, for my proof-of-concept tests, to use the High Density preset, as it felt like its appropriateness for object recognition best matched the application at hand. Do you believe I assessed the situation correctly?

Hi Andrew John Madey You can find a range of research papers about insect counting projects that use Tensorflow by googling the term insects "count" "tensorflow" (making sure to include the quotation marks for more relevant search results).
The Medium Density preset will provide a good balance between depth accuracy and the amount of detail on the depth image.
