D435i misrecognizes louver as short range

    The D435i is possibly interpreting the slats of the air conditioner grille as a repetitive pattern (an observed area of the scene with similar looking parts that repeat horizontally and vertically, such as a horizontal row of fence posts or a vertical stack of window blind slats).  Repetitive patterns can confuse the depth sensing of the camera.

    Putting the camera at a higher height and tilting it downwards at an angle towards the air conditioner instead of facing directly ahead may also help to break up the recognized pattern.  A tilt should not negatively impact the depth measurement as long as the tilt angle is not greater than 30 degrees.
