    Hi Dzhus

I agree that the D415 model would be a preferable choice for your particular application, as it has around 2x less error over distance (RMS Error) than the D435 / D435i models and has an optimal depth accuracy resolution of 1280x720 (compared to 848x480 optimal depth accuracy resolution for D435 / D435i).

The section of Intel's camera tuning guide linked to below has a graph comparing error over distance of D415 and D435,.

    https://dev.intelrealsense.com/docs/tuning-depth-cameras-for-best-performance#section-verify-performance-regularly-on-a-flat-wall-or-target

Because RMS error starts at around zero at the camera lenses and increases linearly over distance, the difference in error between D415 and D435 / D435i at 1.5 meters is not large but D415 (the lower green line on the chart) is slightly better.

In regard to the D455, it has an optimal depth accuracy resolution of 848x480 like the D435 / D435i models.  Whilst it has around 2x less error over distance than D435 / D435i and longer depth sensing range capability and improved depth-color alignment, as you are sensing at a distance of 1.5 meters the D415 and its 1280x720 optimal depth accuracy resolution is likely to still be the recommended choice for your emphasis on accuracy (as depth precision increases as the resolution increases).
