Data rate of D405 Camera
I'm planning on connecting my D405 camera through a slipring, and I was looking into ethernet options. I was wondering however what the data rate would be, and if I could use a 1gbps cable if I had to use a 5gbps one. I would also love where and how to find this information for the future.

Hi Arthur Roth RealSense has a Python-based ethernet connection tool called EtherSense but it was written years before the D405 camera model was released so I do not know how well it would work with it.

RealSense uses gigabit ethernet connections of 1 Gbps. The authors of the instruction guide paper for the EtherSense tool believed that it was scalable for the higher speeds of standards such as 10GigE though.
For the future I would recommend considering the new D555 PoE camera model which can be connected directly to an ethernet switch or PoE injector via a built-in connector on the camera.
