L515 - Can't get range over 2.5m
Hi
We've bought an L515, primarily to use with Dot3D software, but I'm seeing the same issue when using the Intel Realsense Viewer software.
We only get about 2.5m of maximum range, despite trying on a wide variety of surfaces and lighting conditions. We've tried in an environment very similar to the example video here: https://www.intelrealsense.com/optimizing-the-lidar-camera-l515-range/ with no daylight, and still only get a very limited range.
We've tried 2 different cables connected to different ports on different computers. USB is stated as 3.2 in the Realsense Viewer software. We've tried the different range options in the viewer software, but can't tell any difference in range from one to another.
Are we missing a trick somewhere? Or is the unit faulty?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Jon Biggins,
The Intel® RealSense™ LiDAR Camera L515 is designed to function best from 0.25 to 9 m at 95% reflectivity. The depth accuracy of the camera is as below:
Depth error average at 1m distance from camera is <5mm*
Depth error std deviation at 1m distance from camera is 2.5mm*
Depth error average at 9m distance from camera is <14mm*
Depth error st deviation at 9m distance from camera is 15.5mm*
Meanwhile, could you share the screenshot of the viewer with the issue that you faced?
Regards,
Aznie
Intel RealSense Customer Support -
Hi, I have the same problem.
My L515 was still working yesterday but suddenly I can't detect objects four meters away. I didn't change any settings, and the sensors didn't suffer any damage. I rebooted the firmware but nothing improved.Would you please tell me how did you solve this problem?
