Hi Jack Jansen  On the new D555 camera model, external hardware sync is supported through the USB connector.

The PoE connectivity of D555 supports multi-camera setups with low latency over ethernet cabling up to 100 meters in length.

Version 1 of the D555 datasheet has a note that "If multiple cameras are connected to the same PoE switch, the data bandwidth to the host system is shared between the cameras. To achieve the best performance, a higher data speed rate switch and a host system should be considered, like a 2.5GB, 5GB or 10GB".

    'Hello everyone,

Is hardware synchronization also possible with POE cameras from other manufacturers? Is there a hardware trigger cable for such a case with a description of the functionality of the individual wires that I can order?

Does the camera support the Precision Time Protocol (PTP, IEEE 1588)?

Thank you very much and best regards

Hi everyone, I have been informed that multicam sync over PoE ethernet on D555 will be provided by the introduction of global time over PoE in the upcoming SDK version 2.57.7.

PoE global time support is already integrated into the development GitHub branch of librealsense
