    Hi Cam Huynh

Unless it is a just-released camera where support for it was added in the newest firmware version, a good and simple rule to use if you are concerned about stability is to use 'one version older' than the newest firmware and SDK version for all of the 400 Series cameras, as that second-newest version will have already demonstrated its reliability by then.  The most recent firmware versions are in the D400 Series firmware downloads file list.

If you need to apply the firmware update to a commercial scale operation then using the firmware and SDK combination at the top of the Recommended production camera configurations list with all 400 Series cameras should work well for you. As the versions in that list are typically some months older than the latest versions, they will be 'battle proven' by then.

It will be important that you do use the SDK version recommended in that list for a particular firmware version though.

If you wanted to develop a program solution for status-checking and updating the firmware of your hundreds of cameras, you can do so with scripting.
