D415, Intel RealSense Viewer v.2.33.1, Depth Unit
How do the parameters "Depth Unit" in "Controls" and "Depth Unit" in "Advanced Controls" in the "Depth Table" work? How do these parameters work together, I can edit them separately, but sometimes they change automatically. What exactly do these settings do?

The default depth scale of the 400 Series cameras is 1 mm. This is represented in the Depth Unit value in the 'Controls' section of the side-panel option in meters. So the default 1 mm scale is represented as 0.001 (meters). In other words, 1 / 1000. It can be reduced to a minimum of 0.0001 (meters).
Reducing the Depth Units scale may give improved accuracy when observing objects at very close range (e.g 50 cm or less). Other than that, the default 0.001 value should be fine when observing objects at further distance.
I'm not aware of a relationship between the Depth Unit in 'Controls' and the one in 'Advanced Controls'. I would consider the 'Controls' one to be more important. Advanced Mode settings interact with each other in complex ways that are handled automatically by 'machine learning' algorithms. Most users will never need to touch them, though they are welcome to do trial and error experimentation to see how changes affect the image.
