Tale of two D435's or bad depth image
I have two (2) D435 cameras that I have set up to give depth of the same scene. I am using intel-relasense-viewer to capture depth images. I have done a hardware reset on both attempting to put them on the same basis. Some of the configuration data is included in the two screen shots. The two cameras give radically different results, one is good the other very bad. I am at a loss to explain the difference.
I know the two cameras have different versions of firmware. I am reluctant to 'upgrade' the better camera to the firmware version of the 'lesser' camera at this point. I am also hesitant to declare the lesser camera broken, if I don't know how, or why, it is broken.
My hope is that somebody who reads this post has an "I've seen this before" moment and shares, what was wrong, with me and the community.
Thank you,
Kris Gunnarsson

The bad image has classic symptoms of a camera that needs to be recalibrated to correct the quality of its output. This can be done with the Dynamic Calibrator software.
Reasons why a camera may develop bad calibration include a physical shock (drop on floor, hard knock or severe vibration) or a strong temperature increase.

A-ha! I had thought about calibration but this far out of whack I thought that might do little. There's probably a thin line between in and out of calibration. The team thinks heat is unlikely but shock and vibration is certainly possible. MartyG, I appreciate the quick response and your help. We will proceed to re-calibrate. I will report my results, good or bad.
Thank you.
