D435 won't stream at resolution higher than VGA (using Realsense Viewer) and depth range does not start at 0.1 m as specs say
Hello,
I've been testing the camera using the Viewer (I tried on Win10, Ubuntu and MacOS), the camera firmware is updated to the latest version.
I noticed two issues:
1) The camera won't stream anything (RGB or depth) at a resolution higher than VGA (specs advertise up to 1080p)
2) The closest range for the depth sensor is somewhere around 20 cm (specs advertise 10 cm)
Am I doing something wrong or the specs are fake?

1. The 400 series cameras can stream RGB up to 1920x1080 and depth up to 1280x720. However, it is necessary to use a USB 3.0 port to achieve these modes. If you are running the camera on a USB 2.0 port then the capabilities of the camera will be limited.
2. The typical minimum distance for a D435 camera is 0.2 m. According to the data sheet document for the 400 Series cameras, it is technically possible to get a minimum distance (MinZ) of 0.1 m but you would have to reduce the camera to minimum resolution.
In the table below, the 'D420 / D430' side of the table will apply, as the D435 has a D430 module inside it.
If you do not want to reduce to minimum resolution to achieve a lower minimum distance, you can instead increase the 'Disparity Shift' value in the RealSense Viewer to reduce MinZ. This has the effect of also reducing the maximum depth sensing distance (MaxZ), but if you are doing very close range sensing then this may not matter.
