    Hi Marcello,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
RealSense L515, as well as D400 series cameras, are classified as Class 1 Laser Product under the EN/IEC 60825-1, Edition 3 (2014) internationally. As such, it is safe under all conditions of normal use.

The performance from depth sensing in an aquarium can vary due to the possible different lighting conditions, as well as conditions under the water's surface.

I would suggest you have a look at the following two projects to get an idea about the depth sensing quality underwater:

    FishSense

A project between Engineers for Exploration (E4E) students with collaborators from Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Their webpage mentions that they are using D455 camera. The introductory video also mentions using D435 and L515 cameras for their project.

    Watch their two videos below:

    3D-fish-tracker

An open source-based 3D fish tracking project using D435 camera.
