Best product for measuring volume weight for irregular sized products (not parcels only)
Hello!
I am looking for equipment that could easily measure dimensions for products. An important aspect is that sometimes products are irregular shaped and we would like to know volume weight for those as well, not only parcels. Products are usually apparel ones, and to find the best packaging type for each of those, we would like to measure folded apparel dimensions. Products are not big in size, max 30cm * 30cm * 30 cm.
Please advise on which real sense gadget would suit our needs the best? Is it even possible to measure volume weight for irregularly shaped objects? Also, if it is not, is it still possible to measure cubic volume weight for irregularly shaped objects? (max H * max L * max W)
Thanks!

Hi Norans,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
I would suggest checking out Dot3D Pro and ImFusion Suite. Dot3D Pro is a full-function 3D capture and editing app. You could browse their complete 3D scanners or you can use a RealSense camera with their software kit. ImFusion Suite meanwhile allows you to perform real-time surface capture from one or multiple RGB-D sensors. The following page has more information: 3D Scanning & RGB-D.
If the 3rd party solutions are not suitable for your use case, you will have to develop your own scanning software using the Intel RealSense SDK 2.0.
Intel RealSense SDK 2.0 includes wrappers so that developers can create their own solutions. For your use case, you can develop your own solution using OpenVINO wrapper, available here - OpenVINO Samples for Intel® RealSense™ cameras.
The issue here is not regarding the type of camera, but in developing the software for your specific use case. Any camera from RealSense family of cameras can be used for this purpose.
