D455 accuracy and frame rate
Hi
Can i used the D455 to capture objects at 300 fps as in D435?. Also, I read that D455 has higher accuracy compared to D435? So if the camera is 1m from the object, what is the expected accuracy going to be? My application is outdoors, requires high frame rate and an accuracy that is less 2.5mm. is it possible to achieve this with the D455?
Thank you

Hi Waddelat. I tested 300 FPS 848x100 mode recently in the RealSense Viewer program with D435i and D455. 300 FPS was streamable on the D435i but the maximum available selectable FPS on D455 for the same settings at the time that the test was carried out was 100 FPS.
In regard to the distance of the observed object from the camera, it should be noted that the minimum depth sensing distance of the D435 models is 0.1 meters, whilst the minimum depth sensing distance of D455 is 0.4 meters. This means that the D435 models can get closer to observed surfaces by default without having to use settings that reduce the camera's minimum distance.
Regarding accuracy over distance, I will use the guidance from the camera comparison chart on the official Intel RealSense website.
https://www.intelrealsense.com/compare-depth-cameras/
The D435 models are stated to have depth accuracy of < 2% at 2 meters, whilst D455 has depth accuracy of < 2% at 4 meters. This is a reflection of how D455 has 2x the depth sensing accuracy over distance of the D435 models. So at 6 meters the D455 has the same accuracy as the D435 models do at 3 meters.
If 300 FPS and very close range depth sensing are the priority factors for your project then D435 or D435i may be a suitable choice.
