Custom RGB position calibration
Hello there,
our application and robot body´s size boundaries require moving the RGB sensor of D435i from the original position to a custom position - right above the depth module. What would such a custom adjustment mean in terms of calibration? Is this scenario covered by Dynamic Calibration Tool? Thank you.

Hi Lucan Martin
If your application does not have to depth-sense further ahead than 0.5 meters and does not require an IMU or the IR Emitter component then the compact-sized new RealSense D405 may suit your limited horizontal space on the robot. This camera is also available as a D401 Depth Module.
The D405 / D401 has RGB but does not have a separate RGB sensor, giving it a small physical footprint.
If your current planned approach is a requirement for your project then my understanding is that once the RGB module that is attached to the Depth Module via cable is moved to a new position then yes, you should perform a calibration with the Dynamic Calibration tool to complete the process.

thank you MartyX Grover I have already read through the D405 datasheet, unfortunately our application requires a depth-sense range over 0.5m. We would therefore need to disassemble the sensor and move the RGB module to a custom mount elsewhere. Thank you, hopefully, the Dynamic Calibration tool will do the job.
