Hi Paul Pelluchon  As RealSense 400 Series cameras are stereo depth technology, you can output left and right infrared simultaneously as a pair of monochrome images in Y8 or Y16 format.

The white dots on the images are an infrared dot pattern projection from the camera that is used to aid depth analysis of objects / surfaces, and this projection can be turned off to provide an image resembling monochrome RGB.

Color from an infrared sensor is only supported on the D405, D415 and D455 camera models, and only from the left sensor, not both left and right.

RealSense 400 Series cameras use raw left and right infrared frames to construct a stereo depth image.
