Unable to update D555 Firmware: Disconnection during reboot (PoE) & USB Recognition Failure
I recently purchased an Intel RealSense D555 camera. I have connected the device to my PC via PoE and confirmed that it works correctly (streaming depth and RGB data) within the Intel RealSense Viewer.
However, I am encountering issues while attempting to update the firmware. I would appreciate your guidance on how to resolve the following situation:
1. Firmware Update Failure via PoE: When I attempt to update the firmware using the RealSense Viewer over the PoE connection, the process aborts. Specifically, when the camera restarts (reboots) during the update process, the connection is lost, and the viewer fails to reconnect, resulting in a timeout error.
2. USB Connection Issues: I also attempted to connect the device via a USB 3.0 port to perform the update. However, the device is not recognized by the PC at all. I suspect this is because my PC's USB port cannot supply the required 5.5W power as per the D555 specifications.
Given that I cannot establish a stable USB connection due to power limitations and the PoE update keeps failing during the reboot sequence, could you please provide a solution or a recommended workaround to successfully complete the firmware update in this environment?
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Sunwoo

Hi Sunwoo Cha D555 users have found that USB is preferable when performing a firmware update.
In order to use the camera in USB mode, the ethernet cable should be unplugged from the camera. Is your ethernet cable unplugged when attempting firmware update on USB, please?
