Hi Matthew Ryan There was one past case that I know of in the link below where a D415 Depth Kit Module (the caseless version of the D415) was being identified as D400 and displayed the incorrect serial number ffffffffffff.  The customer in that case eventually concluded that their particular problem was caused by the USB cable having been bent at the connector point.

If the camera landed pointing downwards in a way that caused a floor impact with the USB connector then you could check whether the micro-sized connector that plugs into the side of the camera is fully seated in the camera's USB port by unplugging it and then pushing it firmly back into the camera's port.

Also, a RealSense 400 Series camera may become mis-calibrated if it receives a physical shock such as a hard knock or a drop on the floor.  So if the USB cable is excluded as the cause of the problem then you could attempt to perform a re-calibration of the camera using Intel's Dynamic Calibration software tool.  The Windows version of the tool can be downloaded from the link below.

If you are using Linux then page 14 onwards of the user guide for the tool describes how to perform a Linux installation of the tool.

Thank you very much for this, it is a big help.  The unit is actually embedded in a housing, and visually the USB looks connected but perhaps it is not all the way.  Thank you!
