D435 Cameras - Lighting conditions
Good morning,
in the document "Intel-RealSense-D400-Series-Datasheet-June-2020" there are a few specifications which vary "with lighting conditions". Please, would you have more details about it, like for example the lux quantity to have in order to ensure a good detection by the device?
Thank you very much
Regards

Hi Gbi The RealSense 400 Series cameras can make use of ambient light in a scene to analyze surfaces for depth detail. In a dimly lit scene though, enabling the camera's IR Emitter component to project a semi-random dot pattern onto the objects in the scene enables the camera to use those dots that are cast onto surfaces as an analyzable texture source instead.
In a dark scene, external light sources such as an IR illuminator lamp can also be used to provide the camera with light that it can make use of.
A chart in the link below provides suggestions for minimum exposure-time values to use at particular lux levels for best depth performance.
