D415 problem turning on on my laptop but not on pc
When I plug the D415 into my pc into a usb 3 port, I can see my image clearly in my system settings. But when I plug it into my laptop into a usb 3 port, I only see a grey square in my system settings. I am using an usb 2 cable and I am not sure if my pc is just more efficient or there is a problem with my laptop. I wanted to know why this problem is happening before I buy a usb 3 cable and I get the same problem.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Jo Samuel Is your laptop using Windows? If it is then please check the Windows camera privacy settings to confirm if permission to access the camera and permission for programs to access the camera are both set to On for your laptop. Instructions for doing so can be found here:

A factor that can influence how well the camera works on a particular computer is what USB controller (the component that handles the USB ports) was chosen by that computer's manufacturer. There are different controller brands and some work better with RealSense cameras than others.
On the rare occasions where problems are caused by the controller, plugging the camera into a USB hub device can help, as a hub uses its own USB controller separate from the one on the computer's built-in ports.
If the USB2 cable was the problem, there may be something about it that the laptop's built-in USB controller brand does not like.
