D435i connecting with Ethernet Cable through Micro-C to Ethernet adapter
Due to the length of cable connecting to D435i, I am planning to use Ethernet cable along with Micro-C to Ethernet adapter to connect to D435i. Has everyone done this way before? How is the communication? If the Ethernet cable work, how to configure the IP address.
Thank you

Hi Danming816 If your main reason for using ethernet is to extend the cable length, there are options for extending the USB cable length. These include a high quality premium USB cable such as a 5 meter one that can maintain the camera signal over a longer distance, or use of USB cabling that incorporates active repeater signal boosting technology for a +10 meter reach. A reel of fiber optic cabling could also be used to extend the camera up to 100 meters.
All of these options are provided by a company called Newnex who are officially recommended as a USB cable supplier for RealSense cameras in Intel's data sheet document for the 400 Series cameras and can provide industrial-grade cable products.

If you would prefer to use ethernet cabling, the link below directs to a white-paper document published by Intel about setting up an open-source ethernet networking system with RealSense 400 Series cameras. This paper provides details about how to configure the camera as a network camera. Its list of recommended components includes a 90-degree Type-A to USB Type-C cable and standard CAT5 ethernet cable.
There is also a white-paper available for assembling an alternative RealSense ethernet networking project called EtherSense that uses a Micro USB3 – USB3 adaptor and also references CAT5 ethernet cabling.
