L515 Range
I'm testing L515 for geological use
If i use the L515 indoor the range is over 5 meters but when i use
outdoor with rocks as target i can get a range over 1.5 meters
(same software outdoor and indoor)
the rocks is not wet
Latest firmware with Realsense Viewer
i have read this page
https://www.intelrealsense.com/optimizing-the-lidar-camera-l515-range/
Scanning at night can be better?
Any suggestions?
I have a Realsense D435 but i can scan from 3.5 m

Hi Lucainnoc,
The depth capture of L515 is starting from 0.25 to 9m and it performs best indoor with minimal exposure to the light.
The maximum range of the L515 depends on laser power, receiver gain, object material, and ambient light. The camera can achieve it maximum possible range with a highly reflective object in a space with no ambient light. In your case, the performance is lesser might due to the presence of the ambient light and the poor reflection from the object. The L515 camera cannot be calibrated to improve performance. You have to adjust the setting base on your environment to get better performance of the camera.
Check out the following article to have more detailed information regarding the L515 camera.
