Highlighting an Intel white paper titled 'Enabling high quality volumetric VOD streaming over broadband and 5G'
Hi everyone,
I came across a non-RealSense white paper by Intel that references RealSense. It is titled 'Enabling high quality volumetric VOD streaming over broadband and 5G'.
It discusses a methodology that it claims "will allow users to instantaneously stream high quality volumetric content with minimal latency and under 100MBps". This is in comparison to volumetric content in raw pointcloud format from a depth camera, which the paper claims would take 1GBps of bandwidth to stream satisfactorily.
A very high-end example of volumetric video created with multiple cameras (higher-spec than RealSense) capturing data points from different angles is the cowboy movie clip from Intel's January 2018 CES keynote presentation.

Intel also have a huge volumetric capture facility called Intel Studios near LAX airport that uses this top-end camera capture technology.
