Is there any way to set the font color size weight in the RealSense website so that it is readable by older people?
I cannot see these gray letter and low contrast colors and tiny fonts. I would like to join you and work to improve the RealSense tools and applications. But one tiny setting on the whole website is preventing me from doing that. I tried writing a content script, but I have better and more important things to do.
Customer support doesn't know this group, or care. There is no "contact the website builders" button anywhere.
So I am begging ANYONE who is responsible tor this website to get SOMEONE to let me (every visitor ) set the default font, weight, height and color. I need 14px fontweight 500 color black background white to see. I can write in this tiny box, but it is giving me a headache.
I have a lot to contribute and share, but some thoughtless individuals with perfect eyesight made rigid and fixed choices that prevent me.
I manually changed the font on the API pages to black. It took a lot of fiddling. It sounds good, but no mention of the context. You are requiring people to search for everything not explicitly stated, and I come to pages from search engines or from searches. It is not a linear process. You CANNOT ASSUME that people read "the last page" or the "introduction".
Maybe there are people who care about how information is shared. You are all talented and motivated, but there is a whole world out there beyond the few ten thousand or so in this group, and most are not going to take the time to learn your jargon and memorize your favorite ways of saying things. It is not a criticism, but the way the world is right now. People do not have time to look up everthing.
So can you use all the empty white space on these pages and put in hovers for EVERYTHING that might require an explanation? You know that an API requires a user environment, development tools, particular languages and often proprietary tools and access. What about the whole world out there that probably wants to use the data. If you do not involve them early in your design, it will be another guess at what people want, rather than asking and finding out the uses and applications first.
You won't know what I am saying. So can I at least have a way to set the font on the whole IntetRealSense.com site? Intel.com? Either I am a member of the group, or an outsider. If I am a member then help me to contribute fully. If you don't want older people to help you, then tell me flat out and I will go away. Don't just make it uncomfortable to use by using hard to read fonts. I have a lot to do. So, really, if you don't want me here, tell me and I will find other groups to help.
For 22 years I have looked at the whole Internet to see how society and the Internet are related. So if you want applications just ask. There are thousands, probably tens of thousands, of uses for better algorithm enabled imaging systems. But I am getting a headache and don't expect much anyway.
I bought some RealSense cameras and they are useless to me because I cannot read the documentation and endless discussion and pdfs and all the junk I need just to get data from them. I pity those people who know camera data could be useful and do not even know how to program, let alone set up a propritary and costly development environment that requires five hundred people to operate.
What a state the world is in.

Hello Richard,
Thank you for your feedback. The RealSense web design team has adjusted our design and increased the size and visibility trying to support all users. While overhauling the whole website is not possible at the moment, we will continue to look for ways to improve the user experience.

Hello again Richard!
You can submit feedback about the website by visiting the contact form at the link below and choosing the "Site Related" option from the 'Please Select a Topic' drop-down menu.

In the meantime, you can adjust how pages are rendered using a browser's settings options. Below, for example, are the 'Appearance' settings in Chrome:

The chrome settings does not let you let you change the font color, background color, font weigh and transparency -- all of which affect viewing. It is contrast not just size.
This is what I can do on some pages. But it really needs assistance and cooperation from the site owner. I need help from Intel web people and so far no one is listening or seems to care at all.
MD.Style.color = "black";
MD.Style.backgroundColor = "white";
MD.Style.fontSize = "20px";
MD.Style.fontWeight = 500;
MD.Style.fontFamily = 'sans-serif';
MD.Style.lineHeight = "25px";All these properties have to be changed for EVERY piece of text. And many things are written as text in images and that again requires help from the site owner. I am going to make this a universal requirement for the whole web. And all the borders and carets and icons are pale.
ALL of the accommodations by Google Chrome and other browsers and sites are not even close to being sufficient. In the United States it is illegal, but people do it, ot fail to do things, anyway.
I sent you a reply by email and I got rather upset. I am tired of people telling me "just use the browser settings" I have tried that so many times, and it never changes their bad design and lack of caring.
I wrote a program to change all the fonts on this page. But it could not get inside this message box for instance. There is no way to change the font propertes in this box. If I make it big enough to read, the whole page disappears because it has been blown up so large. So my ability to see what I am writing about is impaired.
It is a terrible thing to get old, or to not be able to see. And so far, not a single person or organization has done a single thing to help.
Shame on Intel for not helping. Your web people should be the best of the best. And they miss basics like this. I will see if I can run a statistical report on the extent of the problem on this site. I would much rather your web people fix it for everyone by giving control to the users. And concentrate my time actually using this forum to find how to use the Intel cameras and software. And to share what I have been learning.

Marty,
Thanks for at least trying. Going back and forth between the email notices, then having to log in, and then writing here is painful
I made a video to show some of what I am running into with the site. It got rather long because I started thinking about my Internet Foundation projects and how the same problems Intel is running into with its sites is happening on critical problems in the world, and why it is so hard to get anything done. I will try to edit and simplify, but the first part is specific to the web practices of the IntelRealSense.com.
Hard to Read Intel Site, Covid, Google, The Internet Foundation, Accessibility
This is an unlisted video on YouTube. I did not want everyone in the world arguing about things, so I tried to give you (Intel) some specifics. But I am so tired, and it is so hard to read the sites, and so hard to just use the sites and processes. I don't have days and weeks for every organization. I think AI imaging would help with Covid. So many things to consider and do.

Thank you. The reason I asked for this to go in my login profile, is that it might be an imposition to make everyone use my large fonts.
If each person can set their own, one person will not dominate the display. In a truly complete world, there will be a small set of standards, then one could specify the language and many other preferences as an individual. There is plenty of memory for that.
I am trying to set that kind of policy for the whole Internet - but it means convincing the browser companies and groups to treat their visitors and users and members and clients as individuals. And then give control of content display to them. Now every website owner has to guess what visitors want or need. It does mean educating users. But I think it is the right direction.
I will try to get back to image algorithms now. Thank you.

The text in these boxes is small and not within my control.
But I want you to know I tried to use the sample c++ programs but got hung up immediately trying to relearn Visual Studio. It is a massive investment. If all your potential users face that barrier, they are going to add that to the high cost of these cameras in the first place.
I wrote to the Intel support again and asked if there is anyone at Intel or RealSense or elsewhere writing an http link to the API capabilities of these cameras.
That would allow me, from a browser or Javascript environment, to call on the cameras, get the data in a controlled way, and then actually spend time processing data and writing image algorithms. This continual "setup" is painful and offputting.
Your support is so scattered and hidden, I am gettting tired of even bothering. I do not want to log in every time I get a message from Intel. Just talk to me by email. I suspect no one reads these comments here anyway. It is not a conversation. Very unwieldy and time consuming.

Hello Richard,
There is no requirement to use Visual Studio in Windows to work with our C++ samples. You can use the IDE of your choice. We provide CMakefiles so that you can use CMake to generate project files for different IDEs.
There is a way to get support via emails by submitting a ticket through our Zendesk portal. Click on your profile icon on the top right of this page, to the left of the cart, and select "Submit a Ticket." A direct link to the ticketing site is https://support.intelrealsense.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
The Intel RealSense SDK 2.0 includes a Node.js wrapper so you can access the functionality via JavaScript.
