    Hi Balaji,

Thank you for contacting Intel RealSense Customer Support.

As MartyG mentioned, the Windows SDK 2016 is not compatible with D400 series, it is only compatible with the SR300 model. The SR305 model as well as the D400 series models use only the SDK 2.0, located here: https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense. The SR305 does not work with the Depth Camera Manager (DCM) which is why it is not compatible with the Windows SDK 2016.

The Intel® RealSense™ SDK 2.0 provides access to color and depth streams with some value-add functionality but it does not implement high-level functions like 3D scanning. It is up to the developer to use the Software Development Kit to develop a 3D scanning application.

In addition to the resources provided by MartyG, you can find more information related in the following article: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000028223/emerging-technologies/intel-realsense-technology.html?elq_cid=1193027&erpm_id=3504047.

    Regards,

    Intel RealSense Customer Support.

The 2016 SDK is compatible with the RealSense SR300, so it should work with the SR305 (an SR300 in a new casing suited to mounting the camera).

There are no plans that I know of for an official 400 Series 3D scanning solution.

You may have seen the official 3D scanning software recommendations for the 400 Series cameras.

An additional free of of charge option not listed there is LIPScan 3D.  Though its information page only lists D415 compatibility, its download page states that D435i compatibility has been added.
