D435 case and front cover material
Hi everyone!
I need to install my d435 camera in the wall (inside a hole) and i would like to close the "hole" with a glass or a transparent plastic.
What material can I use to cover the front of the camera without creating problems? Is there any type of glass that doesn't interfere with the sensor? Is it possible to use a darkened (smoked?) glass?
Another question: Is there a case or a support to install the camera in a wall other than the tripod present in the original box?

The very last page (Appendix B) of the data sheet document for the 400 Series cameras contains guidelines about choosing a suitable cover material.
I hope that the information in the link below will also be useful to you in choosing a cover material.
Regarding casings or mountings, these are usually custom 3D-printed solutions. Intel offers a blueprint for a mount for up to six cameras for the D435.

Here is a blueprint for a D435 handle:

And one for a ring-shaped mount:

If you prefer a pre-made solution, you could search a store such as Amazon for 'tripod mount' for a plate that the standard-sized tripod thread on the base of the D435 can attach to.
It is also worth mentioning a housing that Intel made for the older R200 RealSense model and sell in their online Click store. It is box shaped and so suited to the inside of a wall and has extra space in it for a computing board as well as the camera. It might need some modification to fit a D435 though, as its front-plate was designed to line up to the different sensor positions on an R200. If you are making your own front plate anyway, conceivably you could just swap it for the default one on the housing and attach it to the front-plate recess on the housing.
