Hi Sjc6834  For some RealSense users the rs-convert tool does not generate .ply files but can generate other file types such as PNG images.  It is a known issue and there is not a solution available for users who are affected by this problem, unfortunately.

    Hi MartyG

Thank you for your reply.  I wonder if there are any other ways to generate the .ply files? Or is there another way I can view the .bag files? THANK YOU.

    Wish you the best

You can export a single frame as a ply from the 3D point cloud mode of the RealSense Viewer tool using the 'Export' option at the top of the Viewer window when in 3D mode.

You can view a bag file's contents by drag and dropping the file into the central panel of the Viewer to automatically initiate playback.

There was a recent case at the link below regarding an error caused by bag file playback in the 2.54.1 Viewer of bag files that were recorded in an earlier Viewer version (2.53.1 in that particular case).  Was your bag recorded in 2.54.1 or an earlier version, please?

Hi MartyG, thanks for the solution, this is indeed a versioning issue. Now that I managed to open . bag in the RealSense Viewer and exported it as. ply. Thank you very much!
