Sensor Selection and integration advice
I am looking for some guidance on selecting the proper camera for a large scale use case.
The objective of the project is to provide augmented reality navigation on a tablet through a warehouse. We have a 3D model of the warehouse as well as (dynamic) inventory data. The solution shall be Unity-based and, due to a few external requirements/software suite, we are restricted to a Windows tablet (currently targeting Surface Pro X).
I understand our greatest limitation is going to be the Surface camera, so I am looking for a camera from the RealSense line to enhance the tracking capability in between image targets. I believe the T265 could give us the orientation in space that we desire, but I have no idea how to make that work in tandem with an AR SDK (currently looking at Wikitude). Obviously, we need to use the Surface Pro camera feed for display but the positional data form the T265.
Maybe we don't need an AR SDK if we can just build on the RealSense SDK 2.0... So my very open-ended question is:
Which camera is the best fit for this use case (T265, D-series, or SR-series) and would it be possible to implement the solution with just the RealSense SDK?

Hi Christian,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
RealSense SDK 2.0 is a must, and we recommend using Unity wrapper for RealSense SDK 2.0. You can integrate with any other SDK as required. We cannot say for sure that this will work as per your requirements.
You can go with T265 for your use case. You need to write an application to access RealSense SDK 2.0. RealSense SDK 2.0 will give you all the information to use RealSense devices, as well as to get the streaming and positioning data of T265.
T265 has an example SLAM program in the SDK's Unity wrapper.
