Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera D435i
I am looking for a technology to perform a 3D scan of the oral cavity to then obtain certain dimensions.
Is it possible to perform this scan with the Intel Realsense D435i?
Is it possible to obtain real dimensions from this scan?
What is the software needed for this, how much do I have to pay to get it?

Hi Aritz Galarza Yes, it would be technically possible to perform an oral scan of the mouth and capture an image with real-world dimensions. The D435i would be a suitable choice for this application, as it has a minimum depth sensing distance of 0.1 meters (10 cm), enabling the camera to be positioned close to the surface that is being observed. There are other settings that can be adjusted to reduce this minimum distance further, though there is a limit on how much closer the camera can be positioned to a surface before blurring sets in.
It would be possible to achieve such a scan with free software, such as the RealSense Viewer software that is bundled with the RealSense SDK software (also free).
I say 'technically' possible becaue during tests I was able to obtain a clear and sharp extreme close-up of the inside of the mouth with a D435i with some settings adjustments to create a textured point cloud that maps a color image to depth coordinates. However, the adjustments required to achieve this extreme minimum distance meant that the depth coordinate measurement was incorrect (65 meters instead of 0.65 meters), so using the Viewer tool may not be suitable for your application.

There are also professional commercial 3D scanning software packages that are compatible with RealSense cameras, such as DotProduct 3D Scan
